The World Gin Awards 2025 officially began last week with the first round of regional tastings in Norwich
Last week, the World Gin Awards 2025 began with the first round of regional tastings. The opening session for the awards was held at The Great Hospital, an impressive and historically significant venue in the city of Norwich, UK.
The first round of tastings will determine the medallists on a regional level, with each gold medallist earning the title of category winner. The second round will see those winners compete against each other to determine which products deserve the title of Country Winner. In the final round, all country winners will then go head-to-head to determine which Gin is worthy of the World’s Best title.
David T Smith, chair of judges for the awards, commented: “One of the really exciting things about the World Gin Awards is that we get entries from across the globe from every content you can think of, maybe not Antarctica, but other than that we’re getting them! It’s an exciting and dynamic place and we want to make sure that we have the people and the judges in to reflect that, so that everything will be judges as fairly as possible.”
When asked why entrants should consider entering the World Gin Awards, Cheryl Cade, judge for the World Gin Awards, replied: “I’d recommend producers to participate in the World Gin Awards because of the quality of the judges—we get judges from all over the world here in one venue talking and analysing the drinks sent in, and then we give high-quality feedback producers can work with.”
